Wellness Center Mission
& FAQs

We are looking to build a place that helps people get out of the all-or-nothing mentality and break free from the diet-binge-guilt cycle. The goal is so that people can take all the mental energy spent on thinking or worrying about food and their bodies and use that time elsewhere......
Through our community here, people will reconnect to their bodies and learn how to make peace with food, feel at home in their bodies, understand their inherent worth, and build back trust with their body and their self while gaining ways to advocate for themselves and build a support system that will continue with them through their journey to optimal health and wellness.

And to do this we wish to promote social and economic justice while helping to generate a culture of belonging through a body positive movement to the forefront in society plus a place for celebrating the influence of our multiple intersecting identities. We will provide avenues of critical thought, inspiring vision and practical strategies other's need to celebrate and care for their own bodies through advocacy, self-love and self-care without shame plus help other's develop their own skills, to motivate, and to inspire others, along with providing a nurturing culture of belonging for everyone.
So, if you are a practitioner interested in joining our community to provide HAES, Intuitive Eating and/or Mindful Eating skills, resources and feel as strongly about everyone belonging, then send an email at--  info@5elementscoaching.org

What is Intuitive Eating?

10 Principles of Intuitive Eating
What is Mindful Eating?
Definition- "Mindful eating (i.e., paying attention to our food, on purpose, moment by moment, without judgment) is an approach to food that focuses on individuals' sensual awareness of the food and their experience of the food."
Principles of Mindful Eating
Mindful eating is based on mindfulness, which is a form of meditation that helps you recognize and cope with your emotions and physical sensations. It’s used to treat many conditions, including eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and various food-related behaviors. Mindful eating is about using mindfulness to reach a state of full attention to your experiences, cravings, and physical cues when eating-- bring the person to more AWARENESS to their selves at any given moment.
Mindful eating involves:
  • eating slowly and without distraction
  • listening to physical hunger cues and eating only until you’re full
  • distinguishing between true hunger and non-hunger triggers for eating
  • engaging your senses by noticing colors, smells, sounds, textures, and flavors
  • learning to cope with guilt and anxiety about food
  • eating to maintain overall health and well-being
  • noticing the effects food has on your feelings and figure
  • appreciating your food
These things allow you to replace automatic thoughts and reactions with more conscious, healthier responses.
